Promoting Mental Health & Wellbeing

Positive social and emotional learning (SEL) is a major focus, firstly in the classroom, and secondly in and around the school community. SEL as part of policy and procedure means that every student’s Pastoral Care is seen as a priority. There is also a clear understanding that a child with a healthy sense of self will apply themselves better in the academic rigours of the classroom, and achieve higher results in their academic performance.

Specialised group programs are conducted throughout the year. These groups aim to build resilience, friendship skills, emotional awareness and making positive choices in school and at home. More specific programs are run for Senior Primary towards strength building and personal goal setting. The School also runs a program called Chill Zone, for students who have experienced family changes due to parents separating.
